Plausibility check
In iChemistry the definition for "plausibility check" is that the SDS team carries out an extended control of the SDS by checking for any errors and highlights it with comments what is missing on a SDS according to certain legislation
(REACH/CLP and GHS)
These comments are visible in the Overview
Why plausibility check?
Over 50% of the safety data sheets (SDS) that we receive are not according to legislation or is missing information. SDS is a document legally required for most chemicals. For example, according to REACH section II, a safety data sheet must contain certain information and the company responsible for the information in SDS is the manufacturer or other company responsible for the distribution of the chemical.
In a plausibility check, it is checked so that SDS meets the requirements for both REACH / CLP and GHS dependent region and regulation that applies to the market where the company or department is located.
What do we check?
CLP
1. If the languange is homogenous
2. If headings and subheadings are correct
3. If the pictograms are matching with the classifications
4. If REACH registration No in section1 is missing
GHS
1. If the languange is homogenous
2. If headings are correct
3. If the pictograms are matching with the classifications
As a customer inside EU now the plausibility check is done correct according to REACH/CLP
As a customer outside EU now the plausibility check is done correct according to GHS (US have OSHA GHS)
If a customer want to have both plausibility check for REACH/CLP and GHS that can also be done.
REACH / CLP
GHS (OSHA)
