REACH Candidate List contains substances that have properties that can cause serious and lasting effects on human health and the environment. Listing of a substance as an SVHC (Substance of very high concern), by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), is the first step in the procedure for authorization or restriction of use of that particular substance.

Criteria covered in the Candidate list of SVHC:

Products match this list if they contain a CAS number or legally valid EC number* on the list extracted from ECHA’s website for Candidate List of substances of very high concern for Authorisation

*Only EC number with official status (i.e. EC numbers starting with 2, 3, 4 or 5) are legally valid and included in the criteria setup for the restriction list.

Criteria not covered in the Candidate list of SVHC:

The list numbers (i.e. List number starting with 6, 7, 8, 9) published by ECHA are not official EC entries. They are technical identifiers assigned by ECHA for processing a submission via REACH-IT.  List numbers should not be used in SDS's.
